Mike Sheridan did not follow the usual path. He did not grow up as an elite runner. He did not build his career in his 20s or 30s. He started at 60 — and within five years, he broke the three-hour marathon barrier.
By 70, he had done it again. He became one of only four people in the world to achieve a sub-3 marathon beyond that age. He holds the UK M70 marathon record of 2:59:13, set in London in 2023, and the World M70 50km track record of 3:56:19.
He is a World Marathon Majors Champion, having won in London 2021. He has run 21 marathons and achieved six sub-3 performances. His age-graded performance at 73 was 95.55% — the equivalent of a 2:07 open marathon.
He is not a professional athlete with a team of scientists. He is a chartered accountant from Hampshire who built a systematic, repeatable approach to running faster than almost anyone thought possible at his age. That system is the Sub-3 System — and it is now available to a small number of serious runners.
